NORTHERN VOICES SPEECH SPERVICES

2026 TRAINING CONFERENCE

October 14–16, 2026 | Wanuskewin Heritage Park

We’re excited to welcome our school teams back for this year's NVSS Conference -
3 days of connecting, collaborating, learning, laughing, and getting ready for another great year ahead!

YOU SPOKE, WE LISTENED!

We’ve received an increasing number of requests to hold the conference at a venue closer to Saskatoon, so this year we’re excited to host the conference at Wanuskewin Heritage Park.

Because Wanuskewin is not a hotel, accommodations will not be available directly at the conference venue. School teams are welcome to book accommodations anywhere in Saskatoon that works best for them.

Wanuskewin Heritage Park is located just outside Saskatoon, approximately 5 minutes from the city and 15 minutes from downtown. Please plan your travel accordingly and arrive at the venue no later than 8:30 a.m. each morning.

As in previous years, Northern Voices is happy to cover all conference registration costs, as well as breakfast, lunch, snacks, and refreshments for attendees. Travel and accommodation expenses are the responsibility of each school/community.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

All Educational Assistants or designated staff members facilitating the NVSS school speech program are required to complete training before therapy plans can be distributed *in accordance with the standards and expectations of our professional regulatory bodies.  If your school is unable to attend the conference for any reason, please connect with us as soon as possible so we can discuss alternate training arrangements.

We highly recommend that any Inclusive Education Teachers and any school administrators overseeing the NVSS program attend, as strong school-level leadership and involvement have been highly correlated with successful program implementation.

**If possible, we also encourage schools to send an additional EA or staff member who can act as a backup if the primary staff member facilitating to the program is no longer able to deliver the program . This helps protect the continuity of the program and ensures students receive support year-round.

PLEASE NOTE: We have had several requests in previous years for early-learning educators or other school staff to participate. We’re happy to try to accommodate additional attendees where capacity allows, but we would ask schools to reach out to us in advance before registering additional staff.

WHAT TO BRING

We’ll be navigating the Northern Voices School Portal and exploring some of the resources available to your school team.

A LAPTOP COMPUTER

We’ll be up and out of our seats for portions of the day. What can we say? We like to play!

QUESTIONS & CURIOSITY

(and maybe a little competitive spirit!)

Come ready to connect, learn, and share with other school teams.

REGISTER ATTENDEES

We can’t wait to welcome everyone back and kick off another great year together! Please be sure to register by September 21, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions before the conference.

**Please inform your SLP if someone from your team is only planning on attending a portion of the conference so that we can adjust meal numbers accordingly and help reduce food waste. Thanks!
